The service provides specialist palliative care which includes short breaks and end of life care for children and young people from across Wales. That care and support is extended to the whole family and Ty Hafan prides itself on its home from home environment and philosophy. It helps the families make the very most of every day.
Ty Hafan, the Childrens Hospice in Wales was opened after a nine year fundraising campaign by the people of Wales who recognized the desperate need of families for somewhere to turn to when it seemed no one else could help.
The service provides specialist palliative care which includes short breaks and end of life care for children and young people from across Wales. That care and support is extended to the whole family and Ty Hafan prides itself on its home from home environment and philosophy. It helps the families make the very most of every day.
Ten years on and Ty Hafan has developed a very busy Family Support Team which plays a vital role in looking after the 181 families who currently access the service. A further 116 families whose children have sadly died can still receive bereavement counselling and support if necessary.
The caring never stops!
It costs 2.5 million every year for Ty Hafan to provide its service free of charge to the families who so desperately need it. The majority is raised by the generosity of the general public and companies in Wales who recognise the benefit of supporting one of Wales favourite and deserving charities.
Ty Hafan has come a long way in 10 years it is proud to celebrate its achievements and thank its many supporters without whom the dream would never have come true.
Your help and support will ensure that Ty Hafan is there for those children young people and families for the next ten years and beyond.
It was then, for the first time in 12 very long years, that we knew that at last someone was throwing us a lifeline and we grasped it. The light at the end of the tunnel. (A fathers quote)
