The first publication that we worked on with the CHASE Hospice Care for Children team was developed and designed to help the hospice raise its profile in the local community, attract more supporters and to help the hospice continue its valuable work in the Surrey community.

The publication was produced in February 2008 and was very well supported by local businesses, showing just how important the hospice is to the local community.

We were delighted with the end product, as were the CHASE team. Therefore, we're really looking forward to working on the publication in 2009!

You might be interested to know a few things about CHASE Hospice Care for Children and the magazine that we produced to support them...

In SW London, Surrey and Sussex, there are an estimated 720 families with life-limited children and young people. These families each have a child, or sometimes children, who are living with conditions which mean they are not expected to reach their nineteenth birthday.

The difficult journey these families face can last a number of years, and without sustained help and support many would struggle to cope. This is why CHASE is there for them, to walk by their side at every step, right through to bereavement and beyond.

Specialist palliative care is on hand at any time, and in any way it is needed - both in the families’ own homes, and at their ‘home-from-home’, Christopher’s children’s hospice. This practical and emotional support helps to create the security they need to make the best of every single day. Above all, it provides opportunities for laughter and fun times along the way, which would otherwise be impossible to achieve.

Today over 300 families are benefiting from this caring service at no cost to themselves. However, this costs £3.5 million every year, and with nominal government funding available, CHASE relies totally on the support of local businesses and individuals to continue supporting this many families.

What CHASE does…

• CHASE is an award winning care service providing specialist paediatric palliative care for children and young people not expected to live to reach the age of 19.

• CHASE touched the lives of over 300 families last year – sharing the difficult journey they must make and the challenges they face.

• Every day those families cope with the knowledge that their child has a limited time to live.

• That is why every day is so precious and why CHASE is there for them, 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.

• Our community team members visit them at home and in their communities, where they need us most.

• Families are also welcome at our children’s hospice, Christopher’s, where they can spend some happy times together, creating important memories for tomorrow.

• CHASE offers a vital life-line to these families at no cost to themselves but CHASE is faced with its own challenge – to raise over £3.5 million a year to ensure that these families are never let down.

• The vast majority of this money must be raised through fundraising and general charitable donation.
