Cotswold Care Hospice is a local independent charity serving the people of Gloucestershire. The hospice cares for and supports people from 16 years upwards living with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses, and we were honoured to work with them on the first edition of their new fundraising magazine.
Cotswold Care Hospice is very well regarded throughout its local community (and, truth be told) further afield, a fact which we noticed while talking to the local businesses who chose to support the publication (click the thumbnail to the right to see the electronic copy or follow this link). We believe that this is a testament to the high standards of care that they offer to all of their patients, as well as the patients' friends and family as well. The design and style of the magazine was developed to be sensitive to the content, but also to present the hospice as the modern, caring organisation that it is.
A few facts about the hospice and the magazine which you might be interested in...
The Hospice provides a flexible range of clinical services directed at meeting the supportive and palliative care needs of over 350 patients and their families a year from diagnosis throughout the illness and into bereavement. These services are provided free of charge at its Minchinhampton premises and through its Hospice at Home service.
Cotswold Care Hospice’s care is tailored to each patient’s individual needs. It is based on the simple idea that every person deserves peace respect and dignity, this will include care at the point of diagnosis through the illness, to end of life care. Our services include:
-
Out-patient care
-
Hospice at Home Care
-
Day Hospice
-
Counselling and Bereavement Support
-
Carer Support
-
Symptom Relief
-
Pain Control
-
Complementary Therapies
-
Diversional Therapies

The ways in which we are meeting the changing needs of the community around us, and incorporating best practice in the field of palliative care, include:
-
The introduction of the Hospice at Home Service in 2000 (working in partnership with the Primary Care Teams)
-
A widely varied programme of Diversional Therapies are available on a flexible outpatient basis as well as many Complementary Therapy treatments and counselling services
-
The development of our Lymphoedema Service (which is fully integrated with the county-wide service)
-
A multi-professional model of care within the Hospice Day Unit has been introduced which encourages rehabilitation and social support for patients at any stage of their illness
-
Self supporting MS groups
-
The expanding Education Programme networking with the wider community
-
The majority of our services are provided free of charge within an agreed plan of care. This is regularly reviewed by the multi-professional team; other supportive care services may request a small nominal charge or donation. This is to ensure equity of access for those whose palliative care needs are greatest.
All our care is provided without charge but as we are not part of the NHS we need to raise over £1.2million pounds each and every year to fund our services.
Your support is very much appreciated by all who benefit from our services and will also help to ensure that we can continue to provide this much needed care to future patients and their families
